A Selection Of Bible Verses For When You’re Feeling Low

Life can get heavy sometimes, and it’s perfectly normal to have days when you don’t feel yourself, you feel low or struggle with your emotions; it’s all part and parcel, not only of growing up and getting older, but of simply being human. All of us, no matter what age, wake up sometimes in a bad mood, let the day get the better of us, or allow the weight of daily life to get on top of us.

Even more so, however, when we’re young, and we have to navigate school, maybe a job, friendships, exams, relationship drama, and simply trying to fit in whilst also meeting our loved ones expectations for us. It can sometimes feel like a lot to process, and having low days is completely normal.

However, it’s important to remember that you’re not alone, and scripture offers us a lot of comfort and perspective for those days. Here is a selection of bible verses for when you’re feeling low.

Bible Verses For When You’re Feeling Low

Psalm 34:18: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

This is pretty self explanatory. It reminds us that God is with us during our most challenging moments, and will always be close to us when we need him the most. When we feel brokenhearted, crushed and without hope, God will be there to comfort us and remind us that we are not alone.

Isaiah 41:10: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

This bible verse is a particularly strong and clear one. A direct message from God, he reminds us not to live in fear or anxiety, for he is a constant, leading presence in our lives and will always be there to support us.

Matthew 11:28: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

This particularly short but beautiful quote comes from Jesus himself and is an encouraging personal reminder that, when you are carrying a heavy emotional load, you can rely on him to relieve you of that burden. You never walk alone, Jesus is with you.

What We Can Learn

We can learn so much from these 3 bible verses alone. Such as:

  • God will always be a constant and supportive presence in our lives, especially when we are struggling
  • We can lean on God for support, advice and guidance when we are feeling low
  • It is, and always has been, completely normal for human beings to feel low, anxious, scared or stressed, and it’s ok to feel sad sometimes
  • A problem shared is a problem halved; we should share our worries and concerns with those we trust – with God and with the ones we love

And so much more.

But please, on those days you’re feeling low especially, talk to your friends, family and loved ones; they love you and they will understand, and try to help you feel better.
