Circles and Cycles

Some people see life as linear from birth to death but this seems rather prescriptive and clinical. Others see it as a jagged graph with ups and downs, those ruled in or out. How do you see it? Seeing life in circles and cycles gives more room for enlargement, inclusion and growth.

The hard edges are more flexible when rounded. Reflect on the photo – circles can be overlapping, interconnected, different sizes and speak of cycles.

The Project

Most of us like a project of some kind so long as it is not overwhelming. Somehow it is more satisfying than a routine chore like hoovering or washing the dishes. Ideally, a project needs a plan with a timeline, the right tools and materials.

With the vision for it taking shape, there is a sense of purpose and pending fulfilment. There are bound to be distractions and probably some difficulties to overcome.

Life after full bloom

The bloom of youth is a lovely thing to see but what about when it begins to fade? All living beings are touched by the passing of time – the petals will fall, the energy will get less and the wrinkles will come.

We tend to get into denial with fitness regimes, special diets, vitamin supplements and more expensive toys. Apparently the new 30 is 40 and 60 has become 70!

Undoing what’s done

There’s little more frustrating than trying to undo a knot but not being able to see where it starts and ends. Sailors and Scouts learn how to use up to 25 knots for practical purposes. How many do you know?
According to The Ashley Book of Knots there are over 3,850 knot types!

Tying a knot is a life skill that most of us learn before going to school – the simple shoe lace. Even with this there are different ways of doing it and you will probably still be doing it the way you were first taught.
