3 Bible Verses For When Life Feels Overwhelming
We live in an age of the chronically online; doomscrolling, scare mongering and trolling are all part of our daily lives and have been for such a long time now. Most of us under the age of 25, sadly, can’t remember a time without it – without the negativity, anxiety and overwhelm that comes with social media, the internet, and having constant access to global news and information.
Yes, the online world today can be a scary place and it’s all too easy to feel anxious, overwhelmed, and like things may never get better. And, for those days, here are 3 bible verses for when life feels overwhelming and things get a little too much.
3 Bible Verses For When Life Feels Overwhelming
Firstly, try and remember that you are not alone. Everyone feels overwhelmed sometimes, and that’s ok. The greatest thing you can do in those moments is talk to the people you love; your family, your friends, and God.
They say a problem shared is a problem halved and just saying the words out loud to someone who cares for you will make you feel better.
Beyond this, hold onto these 3 bible verses for when life feels overwhelming:
- 1 Peter 5:7: Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
This is probably the most well known passage in the bible about anxiety, and serves to reassure us all that overwhelm and anxiety are simply part of the human condition, but God loves you as his child and wants you to hand your anxiety over to him. Just like your parents, guardians, or loved ones – those who care for you – God wants you to be happy and any difficult feelings you have should be cast onto him. You shouldn’t have to bear the weight of anxiety alone, and God walks with you at all times.
- Matthew 19:26: But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Here, Jesus wants us to know that when you walk with God, anything is possible even when it feels impossible. And that goes for many elements of life, not just anxiety and overwhelm. There’s not much more to say about this one!
- Psalm 34:18: The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Psalms is one of the most heavily quoted books of the bible and provides us all with some wonderful life advice throughout. But just one passage in Psalms – one that is most powerful when thinking about anxiety and overwhelm – simply reminds us that God will be by our side when we feel brokenhearted and crushed. So, even when we feel most alone, we are reminded that God is with us.
A Little Something To Remember
In all of this, it’s incredibly important to remember – and we can’t stress this enough – that you are not alone. Everyone feels overwhelmed sometimes, but sharing your worries and concerns with the people around you will help you.
Your loved ones can help you to feel better in the moment and may even be able to come up with some practical and actionable solutions to prevent you from feeling this way in the future. Please talk to the people you love and trust, even when it feels difficult.
It’s good to talk.
