A long-form exploration of truth, ideas, Jesus Christ, and the one life-saving choice every person must face in christianity today.
1. Faith in a Modern World of Noise

We live in a world overflowing with information — articles, podcasts, influencers, AI-generated opinions, cultural commentary, and endless debates. Western culture often leans toward cynicism about faith, while many other cultures remain open to spirituality, mystery, and the unseen.
So the question becomes: Who do you turn to for answers? When every voice claims authority, and every worldview competes for your attention, where do you go to find truth that is solid, timeless, and life-giving?
2. Will Religion Fix the World — or Fix Us?

Humanity’s deepest problems are not technological or political — they are moral and relational. Scripture identifies them clearly:
- Greed
- Anger
- Lies
- Lust
- Pride
- Envy
- Sloth
These are not abstract concepts. They destroy lives every day.
The Personal Consequences
As you read through the table, consider the impact of these sins on the life of others you have seen and on your own life.
| THE PERSONAL CONSEQUENCES | ||
| SPECIFIC SIN | LEADS TO | IMPACT |
| Greed | LEADS TO | Manipulation, deceit, broken trust |
| Anger | LEADS TO | Violence, bloodshed, broken families |
| Lust | LEADS TO | Various addictions, betrayal, shattered marriages |
| Pride | LEADS TO | Arrogance, damaged character, isolation |
| Sloth | LEADS TO | Poverty, wasted potential, emptiness |
| Envy | LEADS TO | Theft, bitterness, dissatisfaction |
| Gluttony | LEADS TO | Long-term health decline, lack of self-control, death |
The Global Consequences
These same sins scale up into:
- nation rising against nation
- tyranny
- corruption
- moral collapse
- societal breakdown
Religion alone cannot fix these things. Ideas cannot fix these things. Only a person can — and that person is Jesus Christ.
3. Ideas Are Powerful — But Not Enough

You have been shaped by the ideas of others — teachers, parents, culture, media, and the voices you listen to. Ideas move nations, shape history, and inspire revolutions.
Consider these reflections:
- Victor Hugo: “There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come.”
- Napoleon Hill: “All achievements, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea.”
- Earl Nightingale: “Everything begins with an idea.”
- John F. Kennedy: “A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.”
- Robin Williams: “Words and ideas can change the world.”
- Alfred North Whitehead: “Ideas won’t keep. Something must be done about them.”
These are inspiring — but they point beyond themselves. They reveal our longing for meaning, truth, and purpose that no human idea can fully satisfy.
Because ideas, however brilliant, are still human. And humans are limited.
We need more than ideas. We need God.
4. Religion vs. Christianity — A Critical Difference

Most world religions begin with a man who taught ideas, died, and left followers to carry on the tradition.
But Christianity is utterly unique.
Religion is man trying to find God.
Christianity is God finding man.
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
We were lost, confused, spiritually dead, and without hope — and Jesus came for us.
5. Christianity Is About a Person — Jesus Christ

Not a philosophy. Not a rulebook. Not a dead founder. A living Saviour.
Let’s look at Him.
His Character
- morally pure
- compassionate
- courageous
- honest
- obedient to His Father
- full of integrity
His Works
- healed the sick
- restored broken souls
- fed thousands
- calmed storms
- raised the dead (three recorded miracles)
- called ordinary people to follow Him
His Teaching
- parables of being lost and found (Luke 15: 1-32)
- wise foundations for life
- the Kingdom of God (the Beatitudes Matthew 5:1-11)
- loving God and loving neighbour
- forgiveness, mercy, justice, humility
His Promises
- Shepherd to lead you
- The Way when you are lost
- The Truth when you are confused
- The Life when you feel empty
- Bread and Water for your soul
- Rest for the weary
- New life after death
- A resurrected body like His own
His Claims
Jesus claimed to be:
- the Son of God
- the Saviour of the world
- the Judge of all humanity
- the One who forgives sin
- the Giver of identity, value, and purpose
Two Testimonies coming from others and not Jesus’ own disciples:
- The person crucified alongside recognised Jesus as the Saviour (Luke 23:39-43)
- The Roman Centurion in charge of the execution squad cried out as Jesus died: ‘Surely, this was the Son of God’ (Mark 15:39)
He is no more and no less than everything you need — in this life and the next.
6. The Unstoppable Truth of the Resurrection

Jesus forgave sins — and the religious leaders asked:
“Who can forgive sins but God alone?” — Mark 2:7
His claim to be the Son of God is what led to His crucifixion.
If Jesus had stayed dead, Christianity would have ended instantly. The Romans could have crushed the movement by producing His body.
But they couldn’t. Because the tomb was empty.
Jesus appeared to:
- Mary
- the disciples
- groups of followers
- and over 500 people at once (1 Corinthians 15:6)
Christianity didn’t spread because of ideas — it spread because of a risen man.
The disciples didn’t believe Mary’s claim that Jesus was risen until He appeared to them. Thomas didn’t believe the other disciples until Jesus came to him (John 20:26-29). Thomas responded in worship by crying out in realisation: ‘My Lord and My God’. Once each of the followers realised and trusted Jesus, they followed Him no matter what others said or how they were threatened.
7. What Is Truth?

Pilate asked Jesus this question (John 18:38). Jesus had already answered:
“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” — John 14:6
C.S. Lewis famously argued that Jesus must be one of three things:
- a lunatic
- a liar
- or exactly who He claimed to be
There is no fourth option.
8. Three Choices — And You Cannot Ignore Them

Now that you have seen this, “head in the sand” is no longer an option.
You have three choices:
1. Research
Explore the Bible, read others’ views, look at the evidence, examine the good done by Christians worldwide, try Alpha or Christianity Explored.
2. Deny
But denial requires dealing honestly with the facts. You owe it to yourself to investigate thoroughly — as prominent academic philosopher C.S. Lewis and eminent barrister Nicky Gumbel both did. Both had been strong atheists but both came to trust Jesus for themselves and shared their faith with many others.
3. Accept and Follow
In a maze, there are many cul-de-sacs but only one true path. Jesus is that path.
An amazing estimate is given by Barrett and Johnson of the total number of people who have trusted Christ Jesus since AD33 to the present day is 7,000,000,000. In 2026, it is estimated that 2.7 billion people consider themselves Christian today which is about 30% of the world’s population. Will you be the next 1 out of 3?
9. A Warning — and an Invitation

“Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” — Hebrews 3:15
“It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” — Hebrews 9:27
Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Life is fragile. Death is certain. And after death, we face the consequences of our decision about Jesus.
10. Truth Is Timeless

God does not change.
“The Ancient of Days.” — Daniel 7:9
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” — Hebrews 13:8
He promised He will return — not as a baby in a manger, but as King and Judge. For those who trust Him, it will be the fulfilment of every promise. For those who reject Him, it will be the saddest moment in history — the moment of lost opportunity from God’s mercy.
Mercy is available now. After your physical death, it is too late.
11. Many Choices — One Life-Saving Choice

You can choose many things in life — career, relationships, lifestyle, beliefs. But only one choice determines your eternity.
Jesus Christ. The Way. The Truth. The Life.
If this makes some kind of sense to you, here’s a prayer you could use as a next step on your journey of faith: Jesus, I know I need to make a decision. You know me and the things I struggle with that hold me back. Forgive me for my shortcomings and my weaknesses. I want to trust you as the One Who saves me and gives me new meaning. Please give me hope, purpose and direction so that I can know I am part of God’s family, forgiven and accepted. I can’t do this alone so please send your Holy Spirit to help me, Amen.
